Twenty years ago, some of us old-timers were beginning to gear up for what became the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
"I want to thank the member states who have produced an outcome that not only does no harm to the Internet but offers opportunities for us to reinforce the global Internet as a resource that is to be shared equitably by all people."
Much progress been made on the vision of the people-centred, inclusive and development-oriented Information Society in the ten years since the WSIS. However, many challenges lie ahead, from adopting a sustainable development approach to advancing gender equality.
